About Us
Who We Are
Wistaria Trading was founded in 1991 by Scott Moskowitz as a response to the growing demand for U.S. and European goods and services in Japan and Asia. Our name derives from the “wisteria vine”, (in Japanese,“fuji”,or, 藤); specifically, the Sierra Madre Wistaria, a large vine in Sierra Madre, California, that was declared the largest blossoming plant in the world in 1990. He started the business with a focus on growth, resilience, & overcoming complex systems, similar to how wisteria plants thrive and climb in various environments. Scott’s vision of creating relationships for facilitating trade between Western and Asian markets, leveraging his expertise in finance, technology, culture, sales, marketing, and strategic advisory services led to dozens of successful deals with high profitability.
Wistaria Trading identifies at least five consistent themes in our thirty four year history:
- Adaptability in Markets: the importance of adapting advisory strategies to fit different clients while maintaining a fiduciary responsibility
- Building Relationships: the value of building strong relationships and networks to facilitate better long term outcomes and growth as our clients’ needs change
- Complexity Management: managing expectations over the complex interdependencies in financial systems and insurance, reduces complications and stress
- Holistic View of Risks: insurance is “the transfer of risk”, similar to risk management, a comprehensive view of risks associated with life’s complexities, business continuity, and generational wealth potential enhance trust between parties
- Long-term Strategies: sustainable, long-term strategies rather than short-term gains are at the heart of meeting the expectations of clients, whatever their life experiences and goals
